Are written tests required when teaching a class?

When conducting classroom courses, we require each student to pass a hands-on practical skills portion and written test prior to certification. Our training regulations require that a student passes the written test (with 80% or above) to obtain their certification. They are allowed to retake the test if needed. Skipping the test is not an option.

If you were an instructor with ARC or AHA before working with us, you may not have done written tests for your students in the past, but you should know that the ARC still requires a written test to be passed with 80% or better for all of the CPR and First Aid certification courses. Regarding AHA Classes, it is only allowed to skip the written testing portion for the AHA Heartsaver courses, not any of the other courses.

Hope that helps!
