How many students can an instructor have in a class?
One instructor should only be teaching 12 people at a time (1:12).
For example; If you are planning on having a class with 18 students, then you are required to either split the class into 2 different sessions or have another instructor present. As an instructor, you are regulated (as stated in the instructor manual) to only teach (up to) 12 people in a class. if there are 2 instructors present, each instructor can teach 12 people, allowing for a class size of up to 24 students.
If you don't have a set of equipment for each student, then equipment sharing is needed. You can share 1 manikin set between 3 students (1:3 ratio) in a class. Find out more. You can usually plan for an additional 20 minutes for each switch that happens, plus the additional time for cleaning and decontamination before another student performs their skills on the same manikin. The decontamination process cannot be skipped, it needs to be done each time a switch happens on the manikins and equipment. This includes the cleaning of the manikins, bag valve masks, AED trainers, pads, etc.
