Guidelines for administering CPR are developed by the international scientific group, ILCOR. The AHA has the special role of sharing these guidelines in the U.S. Because of this, many people think that the AHA approves or accredits other CPR training organizations, but they do not.
Following ILCOR’s guidelines is like meeting federal automotive safety standards: while there may be other differences between cars, they all meet the minimum safety requirements.
