Claiming CEs through CAPCE

CAPCE Accredited Continuing Education Credits are available for Emergency Medical Professionals, Technicians, Paramedics, and other emergency responders.

As an accredited organization with the Commission on Accreditation for Pre-Hospital Continuing Education (CAPCE), ProTrainings submits your approved courses for you. Follow these steps to start your CAPCE-approved training course:

  • Step 1: Choose your course from our course library
  • Step 2: Click on "Get Started" or "View Course", then "Begin Training".

If the course you chose is accepted for CE Credit(s), you'll see the option to  "Start Training for CE Credits". If this does not show, then CEs are not available for that course and you can go back to choose another course, or click on "Start Training" to see the list of entities that accept that course. 

  • Step 3: Click on "Start Training for CE Credits"

  • Step 4: Choose the box showing the CAPCE logo

*For CAPCE, we provided a list of available CE courses at the bottom of this page. Note that most courses accepted by CAPCE for CE credits are available in an online-only version, however, CAPCE requires that all BLS courses must include a hands-on component. 

  • Step 5: Fill out the form. Anything not correct on this form will cause a submission failure. 
  • Step 6: After your course, you will be asked to Fill out the survey. This is required.
  • Step 7: For BLS courses only, you'll need to complete your hands-on before it's accepted. All state departments require EMS professionals to perform hands-on for acceptance of a BLS certification.
  • Step 8: CAPCE requires that you submit your course within 90 days if you want the credits.

If any of the previous steps are missed or not completed properly, your submission for CEs will fail and you will not receive your credits.

If you missed the opportunity to complete the steps above or took a classroom course, follow these steps:

  1. Click this link to submit your CAPCE information here
  2. Fill out the CE Submittal form completely (partial form shown below). 

That's It! We'll take it from here.

If we have any problems with the information submitted not being accepted, we will call or email you. Please get back to us right away with any questions we might have. 

We only have 90 days from the start of your course to submit to CAPCE for these credits.

Note:  Even if your CEs are submitted properly, and accepted by the national agency above, they could be accepted for fewer hours than your statement shows, or even rejected by your state department. For these few instances, this does not mean that submitting the CEs isn't worthwhile. The credits you submit are still connected to CAPCE and in your records for your professional education, development, and training records.

Our statement reads as "1 CEU per credit hour", but your licensing department may not use that same formula for credit hours allowed. The ProTrainings courses and their recorded contact hours are listed below:

ProBloodborne (Healthcare): 1 credit
ProHIPAA: .5 credit
       
Healthcare Ergonomics: 1.5 credits Self-Defense: 1 credit

ProHazcome: .5 credit        
*   All students submitting for CE Credits are required to complete a survey with ProTrainings after their course.
