Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Skill Evaluations


How early can I join?

We suggest joining no earlier than five minutes prior to your evaluation. Joining too early may cause issues with the instructor notification (they may not see you in the waiting room). If you aren’t let into your Zoom call by the start time. Close the call and immediately open it back up. If you still experience any trouble, call the support line immediately, 616-855-2500, and press option 2 for a live agent.

What happens if I’m late?

We allow a 5-minute grace period to join your evaluation. The call automatically closes at that time and you will be unable to join. A $15 reschedule fee will be applied.

What will I need on the day of my skill evaluation?

You will need your SUMO kit and a device with a working camera and microphone. You will also need a stable internet connection. If you get disconnected from the call, you will be unable to rejoin and will have to reschedule (incurring a rescheduling fee).

If you will be using your own equipment, please refer to the list below.

For Healthcare Provider BLS student-level courses:

  • Healthcare Provider SUMO kit...or these items: 
    • Adult Manikin (with working lungs)
    • Infant Manikin (with working lungs)
    • AED Trainer with Adult pads
    • Adult Bag Valve Mask
    • Infant Mask Attachment

    NOTE: Previous BLS SUMO kits that were ordered (before 2023) did not have the infant mask attachments, please have them order this prior to their skill eval.

For all ages Lay Rescuer CPR/AED student-level courses:

  • All Ages Lay Rescuer SUMO kit...or these items:
    • Adult Manikin (with working lungs)
    • Infant Manikin (with working lungs)
    • AED Trainer with Adult pads 

For adult-only Lay Rescuer CPR/AED courses:

  • All Ages Lay Rescuer SUMO kit...or these items:
    • Adult manikin (with working lungs)
    • AED Trainer with Adult pads

Where is the link to log on?

The link is found in step 3 of your training dashboard. It is located below the dates and times shown. 


I’ve logged on and the meeting isn’t opening. What should I do?

You will be taken to a waiting room as soon as you log into the Zoom evaluation. Please stay in the meeting waiting room until the assigned start time. If you are still not let into the call or it has still not started, please disconnect and connect again.

Ensure that you have a stable internet connection. Poor internet connectivity can sometimes prevent Zoom from opening properly. Try restarting your internet router or connecting to a different network if possible. If you're experiencing issues with Zoom on a specific browser or device, try accessing the evaluation on a different browser (such as Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox) or a different device (such as a different computer, iPad, or smartphone). 

If you've tried the above steps and are still unable to open your Zoom evaluation, you can reach out to Zoom directly for further assistance. You can contact Zoom's technical support at 888-799-9666. They will be able to provide you with specific troubleshooting steps based on your situation. Remember, if you're unable to join the evaluation within the specified time, you may need to reschedule it. Contact the ProTrainings support team to discuss rescheduling options.

How do I reschedule?

You can reschedule in step three of your training dashboard. You will see a link toward the bottom of that section that says “Reschedule Evaluation.” You can click there and follow the prompts.

Or, you can also go directly to www.protrainings.com/reschedule.

When will my CPR dummy/manikin kit get here?

Our SUMO kits take about 5-7 days to arrive. If it’s been longer than that please reach out so we can help track it.

Will it be just me and the evaluator?

You will have your evaluation with up to 4 other students. Our experienced Instructor Trainers will guide you through the skills session, giving everyone the chance to practice and answer and ask questions before testing their skills. Not to worry! Our instructor will explain how the skill evaluation will be done at the beginning of the session.

What will we do during the skill evaluation?

During your online evaluation, you will be assessed on your skills and knowledge related to the course you have completed. Everything that will be covered during your evaluation can be seen in your skill evaluation checklist located in step three of your dashboard. A link will be provided to access this document once an evaluation is scheduled. Click on the button that says “Review Skills Checklist” to obtain a copy.

How do I set up my equipment?

If you received a SUMO kit, here's a video explaining how to unbox it. 

If you are using durable equipment, please make sure that the lungs are inserted and everything is functioning properly.

Make sure you position yourself and the equipment in a way that allows the instructor to see both you and the manikin on the screen, so they can see you perform the skills you learned in your course.

What if I don’t see my link/button?

If you don’t see a link or button, try refreshing your web browser while on your ProTrainings dashboard. If one still doesn’t show, you may be too early or late for the evaluation. If you’re on time, please reach out to us immediately. We recommend chatting with us so we can provide you with a link as fast as possible. When you start a chat, ask for a human to be transferred directly to an agent. You may also reach out to us via phone at 616-855-2500 and press option two for a live agent. 

How do I join from my smartphone or tablet?

Joining from your smartphone or tablet is easy! Make sure you download the Zoom app from the smartphone or tablet you plan on using. Once downloaded, log into your ProTrainings account and join the meeting from your dashboard. 

If you download the app, we recommend being sure to join five minutes early to allow time for any troubleshooting of your audio/video prior to the meeting. You can also test your audio and video (see next question.)

Where can I test my audio and video for my online evaluation?

You are welcome to test your connection and equipment at this link: Zoom's test room. If you have any trouble with your audio or video connection while in the test room, please contact Zoom Support at 1.888.799.9666 ext 2.

I would like to review some of the training videos. How can I access them?

To review the training videos, please confirm the title of your course and then use one of the following links to access the training videos outside of your account:

Someone else in my home or in my workplace also needs a skill evaluation. Can we both share the same appointment?

Each session has four or five spots available. Therefore, two people could individually reserve the same appointment time from their individual ProTrainings accounts. Please note that you will each need your own appointment reserved and separate links to connect with your own devices (each person needs their own Zoom sign in, device, and camera). You both need to have your own set of required equipment (CPR manikin(s), AED trainer, etc.) so you can perform skills simultaneously during the skills session. You cannot share equipment during an evaluation session.
